Obituary

Mr. Buddy LeRoy Pitts was born March 14, 1933, in Kansas City, Mo.,the younger son of Griffie Pitts Sr. and Emma Ruth (Warren) Pitts. He died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, in Cox South Hospital, Springfield.

The family moved to Hickory County shortly after Buddy was born. Buddy accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior on October 20, 1946, in Elkton Baptist Church. On May 4, 1997, Buddy and his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Ann, became members of Springfield Bible Church.

After graduation from high school, he worked for the main Post Office in Kansas City, Mo. From 1953 to 1955, he served in the U.S. Army.After serving in the Army, he worked for large jewelry companies,becoming a graduate gemologist of the Diamond Council of America.

He retired from the jewelry business several years later to pursue other endeavors. He became a graduate auctioneer and also a licensed real estate broker in the state of Missouri. He and Mary Ann both became certified nursing home administrators. Buddy also raised cattle on a ranch he and Mary Ann owned. He loved the outdoors and beauty of the prairie land.

His parents; wife Mary Ann; son Robert Douglas Pitts; and brotherGriffie J. Pitts Jr., preceded him in death.

He is survived by two nephews, Jeff Pitts, Springfield, and JohnPitts, Long Beach, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Norma Pitts, Flemington,Mo.; and two grand-nephews, Robert and Bart Pitts.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, inMurray Funeral Home, Humansville, with Pastor Curt Zacharyofficiating. Interment will be in Flemington Cemetery. Visitation willbe Friday, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., in Springfield Bible Church, 2145E. Grand, Springfield, Mo. Memorial donations may be made to Springfield Bible Church.
