Biography

Theodore was born 19 Sep 1898 in Fort White, Columbia, Florida.

In 1900 he was living in Precinct 6 Ft. White village, Columbia, Florida.[1] The household included Byron P Pitts age 28 born in Wisconsin, wife Alice Pitts age 25 born in Florida, son Theodore R Pitts age 3 born in Florida, son Charles a Pitts age 4 months born in Florida, and boarder Georgia Rowe age 21 born in Florida. Byron was a phosphates miner. Alice was the mother of 2 children, both living.

He registered for the World War I draft 12 Sep 1918 in Alachua County, Florida.[2] He listed his residence as University of Florida, Gainsville, employment as a fastener at Tampa Dock Co. and nearest relative as B P Pitts, Key West, Florida.

On 11 Mar 1919 he applied for a US passport[3] to visit his parents in Havana Cuba. He swore that he was born 19 Sep 1898 at Fort White, Columbia, Florida. He had lived at Havana, Cuba from 1909 to 1914.

In 1920 he was living in Tampa Ward 2, Hillsborough, Florida.[4] The household included Bryon P Pitts age 47, wife Alice Pitts age 44, son Theodore Pitts age 21, son Charles Pitts age 19, daughter Edith Pitts age 18 and daughter Sadie Pitts age 13. Byron was born in Wisconsin, the rest in Florida. Bryon was a purchasing agent for an engineering company. Theodore was chief clerk at an engineering company.

Marian Albury and Theodore Pitts were married about 1924.

In 1930 he was living in Tampa, Hillsborough, Florida.[5] The household included Byron P Pitts age 57, wife Alice Pitts age 50, son Theodore R Pitts age 31, daughter-in-law Marion Pitts age 28, daughter Edith Pitts age 28 and daughter Sadie Pitts age 24. Byron was born in Wisconsin, the rest in Florida. Byron was a marine clerk for the US Government. Theodore was a manager for a towel supply. Edith was a stenographer in a lawyer's office. Sadie was a stenographer for a plumbing supplies company.

He was also enumerated in the 1930 census in Precinct 53, Hillsborough, Florida.[6] The household included Theodore R Pitts age 31, wife Marian A Pitts age 29, daughter Sarah J Pitts age 5, son Theodore R Pitts Jr age 4, and daughter Mary A Pitts age 2, all born in Florida. Theodore was a driver for a towel supply.

In 1935 he was living in Port Tampa, Hillsborough, Florida.[7] The household included Theodore R Pitts age 37, wife Marian A Pitts age 34, daughter Sarah J Pitts age 9 and daughter Mary A Pitts age 7. Theodore was a salesman.

In 1940 he was living in Area C, Tampa, Election Precinct 3, Hillsborough, Florida.[8] The household included Theodore R Pitts age 41, wife Marian Pitts age 38, daughter Sarah Jane Pitts age 15, son Theodore Robert Pitts age 14, and daughter Mary Alice Pitts age 12. Theodore was an arms and ammunition salesman.

He registered for the World War II draft in Tampa, Florida.[9]

In 1945 he was living in Tampa, Hillsborough, Florida.[10] The household included Theodore R Pitts age 46, Marian Pitts age 44, Sarah Jane Pitts age 20, Theodore R Pitts Jr age 19, and Mary Alice Pitts age 17. Theodore Sr worked for Remington Arms Company. Sarah Jane was a student. Theodore Jr was in the Navy. Mary Alice was a student.

He died 17 Aug 1982 in Manatee County, Florida.[11][12]
