Pitts, the special officer who killed the outlaw and ex-convict, Frank Huffman, in Hickory County some two months ago while trying to effect his arrest, was in the city yesterday, and received the reward of $200 offered by Gov. Stone. Huffman was wanted in Cooper County on several charges of robbery, burglary and grand larceny and was considered a very dangerous man. The Hickory County officials employed Mr. Pitts to effect his arrest, with the result stated. - Jefferson City Tribune.

Thursday, December 28, 1911 Paper: Tulsa World (Tulsa, OK) Volume: VII Issue: 87 Page: Three Pitts Funeral Services Yesterday Funeral services over the body of Merchant Policeman John Pitts who died Tuesday night, were held from the family residence, 421 North Boston, at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Rev. C. W. Kerr conducted the services, and the body was interred in [Oak Lawn] cemetery.
