He was not a son of Edmund Pitts of Hingham. His parents are unknown.
Peter Pitts was born about 1625.
Peter married Mary (Andrews) Hodges, as her second husband, about 1655. They had six children.[1]
In 1655, he signed his wife's deed of gift to her sons by her first husband.[2]
Peter was one of the 87 owners who signed the South Purchase (which eventually became Dighton) on November 26, 1672.[3]
In 1672, he (as a cousin) and his children (Samuel, Peter, Mary, Sarah, and Alice) are mentioned in Alice Paine's will.[4]
Peter Pitts died June 9, 1692.[1]
The will of Peter Pitts of Taunton was dated 9 June 1692 and proved on 12 January 1692/93 in Bristol. He mentions, his wife Mary (executor), and his children, Samuel, Peter, Ebenezer, Mary, Sarah, and Alice. His inventory was taken on 9 January 1692/93 in Bristol. His wife, Mary "a very ancient & infirm woman" gave oath to the inventory.[5]
