He was born about 1725 in Virginia and was the son of Elizabeth (Gardner) and John Pitts.
On 07 June 1745, Andrew Campbell and Ralph Humphrey were appointed Andrew' s guardians (presumably when his mother remarried to Henry Robinson).
On 03 Nov 1748 he sold 320 acres of land in Frederick County, Virginia to Lawrence Washington.
On 07 Nov 1748 he sold 207 acres of land in Frederick County, Virginia to Richard Stevenson.
Both of the above tracts of land were from a grant by patent to Jost Hite. No records have been found that Andrew Pitts owned this land. It is possible that Andrew was acting as agent for Jost Hite. These land transferrals are the last known records of Andrew Pitts in Frederick County, Virginia.
He moved from Virginia to North Carolina.
Andrew John Pitts married about 1749 in Guilford County, North Carolina to Martha Stroud (1730-1823), daughter of Anna and Samuel Stroud.
He worked as a tailor.
He owned land on the north bank of the West Fork of Deep River, just west of Forsyth County eastern boundary (established 1849) which was about one mile northeast of Bunker Hill Church and Cemetery, south of Kernersville, Anson County, North Carolina. All the old Anson County records were destroyed by fire during the American Revolutionary War.
In 1753 part of Anson County, North Carolina went into the formation of Rowan County, North Carolina.
The first known record of Andrew Pitts in Rowan County, North Carolina are a 1759 tax list and some court records. [1] [2]
The last known record of Andrew is in 1770 when his daughters, Mary and Elizabeth, were married at New Garden Monthly Meeting.
He died about 1775 in North Carolina.
Many of the children's birth years don't seem to quite line up properly.
