Born at 'Wadnama Farm' on 6 February 1858, Margaret was only 4 years old when her father died.
At the age of 18 she married Richard Orchard a bachelor farmer of Undalya, the son of James Orchard at the Bible Christian Manse, Auburn on 2 March 1876.
They lived at Rhynie for a short time after their marriage, then moved to Kapunda, where their first child was born Ernest. Shortly afterwards the family moved to Morgan, where 7 more children where born.
Margaret continued to live at Morgan after Dick's death
The death of Mrs. Margaret Orchard in her 87th year, widow of the late Richard Orchard, took place at her daughter's (Mrs. B. R. Sykes) residence on Sunday, October 29, after a long illness.
