Moses, Jr. and family moved to Pleasant River settlement before 1770. He served in the militia during the American Revolution as a private in Captain Hall's detachment with Colonel Benjamin Foster's Regiment. He was drafted from the militia to serve again and marched to the assistance of Machias under order of Colonel Foster when a British ship lay in the harbor. Ref: SOLDIERS AND SAILORS OF THE REVOLUTION, volume 12, pg 475-481. His name is inscribed on the bicentennial marker in front of the Old Union Church, now Columbia Falls Town Hall.
