Moses Plummer and his wife, Lucy Perkins, were early settlers in town. They came here from York County and settled on the place now owned and occupied by Albert D. Plummer. The children were: Moses Jr., Jesse, John, Jeremiah, Polly, Lucy, Hannah, and Miriam.

Moses, Jr. and family moved to Pleasant River settlement before 1770. He served in the militia during the American Revolution as a private in Captain Hall's detachment with Colonel Benjamin Foster's Regiment. He was drafted from the militia to serve again and marched to the assistance of Machias under order of Colonel Foster when a British ship lay in the harbor.
