Kemp was member of the House of Commons, of the General Assembly. In 1815 and 1816 he was State Senator, he was a trustee of the University of North Carolina from 1817-1826. For some time he was Grand Master of the Ancient and Honorable Order of Free Masons. He married Susan Martin and they had 13 children, whom 10 reached maturity. [1] Find A Grave: Memorial #101756099
