Biography
He was a farmer through his life.
He enlisted in Company E, 63rd North Carolina Regiment/5th North Carolina Cavalry on 08 Jul 1862. At least one of his cousins (Thomas Joseph Poe) served in the same unit.
His death resulted from heart disease, with bronchitis as a contributor. His burial was at the Cool Springs Cemetery, on 22 Apr 1912.
