Louis Poirier, fils de Michel Poirier et de Marie Boudrot, est l'ancêtre d'une autre lignée des Poirier du Nouveau-Brunswick. Louis naquit à Beaubassin le 22 janvier 1684. Vers 1708, il contracta mariage avec Cécile Mignot, fille de Jean-Aubin Mignot et d'Anne Dugas, et veuve de Pierre Gaudet.[1]
Louis Poirier was born about 22 Jan 1684 in Beaubassin, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, son of Michel Poirier (abt. 1650–aft. 1714) and Marie Boudrot (abt. 1650–1714). He was baptized 22 Jan 1684 at Beaubassin, Acadia. His godparents were Louis Morin and Madeleine Dugas, wife of Germain Bourgeois.[2]
In 1686, at Chiqnitou dit Beaubassin, Louis, aged 2, was living with his parents, Michel POIRIER, aged 37, and Marie BOUDROT, aged 36 and his five siblings: Michel, aged 12, Claude, aged 9, Anne, aged 7, Pierre, aged 6, and Jean-Baptiste, aged 3. The family owned 1 gun and was living on 7 arpents of cultivable land with 13 cattle, 3 sheep, and 8 hogs.[3]
Louis (23) married Cécile (Mignault) Mignot (24), (born on 17 Mar 1683 in Beaubassin; widow of Pierre Gaudet, daughter of Jean Aubin Mignot and Anne Dugas) in 1708 in Beaubassin.

There is no specific wording indicating his actual birthday. Baptism registers often indicate "né de ce jour" or "né la veille" but there are no such mentions on this record. It was typical to baptize the same day or within a few days.
In the 1686 Census of Beaubassin he was 2 years old. In the 1693 Census of Beaubassin he was 9 years old. In the 1698 Census of Beaubassin he was 14 years old. In the 1700 Census of Beasubassin he was 17 years old.
