Hey Bill! This is Robert Funderburk.

Could you do me a favor and Merge your George Washington Polk with mine?

That would help the tree and us a lot! By the way, good to hear from you again.

Robert

Robert, I have no idea of how to do what you are requesting. I do not work with WikiTree anymore because of the complications of doing genealogy on this website, seem more importance is placed on how to do something, than having an accurate genealogy. If you think the two are the same, feel free to merge the two accounts. Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill, You probably should review Unmerged Matches and Merging profiles that do not exactly match to help you understand what to do when a merge is proposed and the profiles have differences. If you continue to have issues, please contact a mentor.

Hi Bill, and welcome to WikiTree! You mentioned researching ancestor links to Scotland and Ireland. I wanted to let you know we have two great projects that focus on Scottish Clans and Irish Roots here called Scottish Clans Project and Irish Roots Project They might be places for you to get involved once you have settled into WikiTree. Lots of hints, links etc for researching on pages of both projects.

You may find some of your ancestors are already on WikiTree and the people in both Projects will be happy to help you in any way they can. Thank you so much for joining WikiTree.

Good luck with your research.

Welcome Bill, you are now a member of the WikiTree Community.

We are building one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to check for duplicates as you add any Profiles to WikiTree - the software automatically helps with this.

If you need any help, visit the G2G forum. You might want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you.

We offer many ways to participate in WikiTree as you explore the community and connect your family with WikiTree. Thanks for offering to help build our shared tree.

I have been doing genealogy for 28 + years and have worked on Polks in every state, and many lines of Pollocks, mostly those stemming from PA. I am now trying to prove the ancestry of my 5thgreatgrandfather William Polk of Mecklenburg Co., NC., who was very likely a Pollock. I am also working on proving Pollock lines in PA., trying to find some common Pollock ancestors in Ireland, and/or Scotland. Some of the lineages I see cannot be correct, that is, the Irish and/or Scottish connections. DNA testing may be the only way these connections will ever be validated. I have take a DNA test with FTDNA, and am a member of the Polk-Pollock group at FTDNA. Bill Polk

Hi Bill,

Welcome as a guest to WikiTree! We're growing a FREE worldwide family tree, striving for ONE collaborative profile for every person.

A couple suggestions to get you started:

1. Feel free to ask a question at our G2G forum.

2. Our help pages, top right, have all sorts of useful information, and searches are under the 'Find' menu.

3. Guests may do a GEDMATCH.

If you want to add your own research, you will need to click the volunteer button and leave a comment here on your profile - include how you can contribute to the tree. One of our volunteers will then add you as a member.

Thank you for visiting WikiTree and I hope you enjoy exploring our friendly community.
