Biography

Samuel Pool Sr. lived in Appalachia, in Ohio.

Samuel Pool was born 1790 to 1795, the son of John Henry Pool of Fairfax County, Virginia, his mother could be John's first wife Catherine Stone. Samuel married Mary Eleanor (Kidwell) Webster Dec. 23, 1813 Fairfax County, Virginia, this is based on the Family Bible of their eldest son Thomas Randolph.

Samuel served in the 60th Regiment of the Virginia Militia during the War of 1812, lead by Lt. Col. George Minor who during August 1814 with Dolly Madison fled Washington DC when the British burned down the White House and Capital Building for retaliation of the burning of York, Ontario gov. buildings. Dolly with the help of many house slaves saved US government documents like the famous Gilbert Stuart painting of George Washington of the Dollar Bill fame and copies of the Constitution.

The 1820 US Census, Samuel is a resident of Truro Parish, Fairfax County, Virginia with two sons and one daughter ages 0 to 10; Samuel and Mary are ages 26 - 45 with one other adult male who may be Samuel's brother Edward. We know Mary was born in 1792, Maryland.

Samuel was born about 1795. He was the son of John Pool and Jane Wood. He passed away in 1846.[1]
