James Poole came from a well-established family. In a newspaper he was referred to as "James Poole of Ludlow, Shropshire, and Hennor House".
James had several sisters but no information has emerged about brothers.
James and Ann's and their eldest daughter Mary Ann was born in Ludlow, Shropshire, England. At this time, William Poole lived at Hennor House. William's relationship to James is not known.
Mary Ann did not marry.
Another daughter, Jane, was born deaf and dumb and became blind in later years.
Other daughters were Frances and Caroline.
One son has so far been located, named James.
An announcement in many newspapers in 1787 [1] refers to a James Poole of Hennor House, now residing abroad.
James' death has not been found, although his wife continued to live at Hennor House until her death in 1833 [2] . It appears likely that James died abroad some time between 1833 and 1854.
