Biography

David Lewis was born about 1677 in Westerly, Rhode Island.

He married Elizabeth Babcock, a sister of his brother James' wife Sarah Babcock. David and Elizabeth Lewis had five children; Elisha, David, Isaac, Mary and Prudence. [1]

David Lewis died in 1718, in Westerly, Rhode Island.

His will was probated on 10th November 1718,[2] the Westerly town council disallowed the will because the three witnesses to the will said that the deceased, David Lewis "was not right in his understanding". The Town Council ruled that David Lewis died intestate.

On 19 November 1718,[2] Elizabeth Lewis refused to take Administration therefore, administration of his estate was given to Elisha, his eldest son. His son Elisha died before the estate was settled and David's brother Israel as given the administration of the estate on the 23 March 1718/19.[2] Israel died shortly thereafter.

His inventory was taken on 10 October 1718.[2]

This will did not mention his widow, but does name his two brothers and two sisters, and appoints his Uncle Israel Lewis (1669-1719) executor. [3]

Lewis-3811 and Lewis-3690 do not represent the same person because: Not even close. The fathers have the same name, but they have different profiles. Lewis-3811 has serious data errors (born before his parents, for starters) that need to be addressed before anything else. Thank you.
Lewis-3811 and Lewis-3690 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicate profile. Same parents. Error on birth year on profile Lewis-3811: birth year is before both father and mother.
