OBITUARY. Toms Obituary mentions that his trade was a painter and Decorator and that he worked at his trade with G and F Mills at the Castle Works, then for 25 years at Wrekin College and later with Yorks of Wellington
G.F.Milnes and Company Limited despite Tom's obituary making reference to G and F Mills this was a printing error and it should actually read G F Milnes Co Ltd of Birkenhead, tramcar builders, opened the Hadley Castle Car Works,Hadley Shropshire. There were 700 employees and 701 tramcars were completed in 1901.Demand fell however, and the works shut in 1904. The works were later bought by Joseph Sankey and Sons Ltd of Bilston in 1910 it is unclear what Tom's roll was at G.F.Milnes,but anacdotal evidence from the Poole family suggests he painted the tramcars.
Wrekin College,Sutherland Road,Wellington,Shropshire A public school for boys with boarding. The buildings at Wrekin College were very extensive and elaborate and kept Tom very busy for the 25 years that he worked there as a painter and decorator.
Yorks,Wellington Shropshire No information about Yorks anacdotal from the Poole family suggests it was possibly a hardware store.
