Notes

Relationships with mother and siblings NOT PROVEN. Assumed based on: Warren and John appear on the 1849 Cherokee County, Georgia, tax Digest, Georgia Militia District #1026. District 1026 is located southwest of Jasper. For some reason this area was missed in the 1850 census or this part of the census was lost. In the 1850 census of Cherokee County, Georgia, Martha Pool, age 60 and born in Virginia, was living next door to Parthenia Pool Prather with Parthenia's sister, Francis Pool Cantrell, age 45 and born in South Carolina. In the 1870 census of Pickens County, Georgia, Margaret Pool, age 82 and born in Virginia, was living next door to Parthenia Pool Prather with Parthenia's daughter, Mary Prather Johnson, and Parthenia's grand-daughter, Parthena Johnson. Parthenia's mother? "The Families of Hall County (1817-1849)" by Robert S. Davis, Jr., Magnolia Press, 1991. Listed in the index are John, Warren, Parthenia, and Levina Pool. The article mentioning them was an excerpt from a microfilm #199/61 in Georgia Archives in Atlanta. The film was from the Hall County Poor School and listed all students attending there during 1826 or so thru 1830 and later. In some cases, it showed guardian/parent as well, and showed ages of children in some listings. Our Pools (spelled without the "e") were listed in 1829, 1830, and 1831. In the 1829 listing (children taught in 1828) they listed under "orphans" Jane Pool, age 14, Parthena, age 11, Lavena, age 9, and Warren and John, twins aged 8. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1860 Census of Pickens County, Georgia Roll 133, Book 1, Page 999, Jasper Town District, 13 July, 1860 Line 16, dwelling 847, Family 997 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Pool 37 M Marble rubber SC Susanna " 35 F GA Seth " 16 M Farm hand GA Samuel T. Roll dated February 29, 1864 last on file shows him absent sick. Died in Pickens County, Georgia in 1864." He was in Company C, 43 Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Tennessee, C. S. A., Pickens County Georgia Pickens Volunteers." In "Some Prominent Ancestors of our Family in Pickens County Georgia" by Claudine Childers Prather, 1998: "John Poole's Civil War record from the Department of Archives and History, from application for pension, filed, Jan. 11, 1895, witnessed by C.J.Cornelson, Ordinary, Pickens County Georgia. Susan Poole stated that she lived in the state of Georgia, since 1825(date of her birth) and that she was a widow of John Poole. John Poole enlisted May 1863, Died March 11, 1864. He was stationed at Dalton, Ga. He contracted chronic diarrhora and was furloughed home and died of said disease at home in Pickens County, Georgia"
