Introduction

An 1859 publication in the New England Historical and Genealogical Register of a much older pedigree[1] was proved false and published as "The Curious Pedigree of Lt. Thomas Minor" in a subsequent 1984 publication by the same journal.[2]

Biography

Sarah was not mentioned in "The Curious Pedigree of Lt. Thomas Minor"

Real information on Sarah Pope. Brislington, Keynsham, and Norton Malreward, are about 5 miles from each other, with Chew Magna just beyond Norton Malreward.

Sara Pope m. Clement Myner, St Luke, Brislington, Somerset, 16 April 1629[3] This date makes her the wife of Clement (the son, bpt 1600)

There were two Sarah's baptized in Somerset in the appropriate time frame.

  • Sara Poop, daughter of John Poop, baptized at St. John, Keynsham, Somerset, 8 Dec 1594.[3]
    • A Sara Pope was bur. 16 Aug 1649, St. John, Keynsham, Somerset.[3] which may have been this Sara, but could just as easily have been her mother or someone unrelated.
  • Sara, daughter of Thomas Pope, bpt. Holy Trinity, Norton Malreward, Somerset, Mar 1599[3]

Norton Malreward is nearer to Chew Magna, and the 1629 marriage both lean towards the 1599 baptism as daughter of Thomas, rather than daughter of John as stated in The Miner Pedigree.

  1. William Myner, son of Clement Myner, was baptized at St Luke, Brislington, Somerset, 5 Nov 1629[3]
  2. Israell Mynor, son of Clement Mynor, was baptized at St Luke, Brislington, Somerset, 11 Nov 1632.[3]

From Pedigree of Miner

Clement, son of Clement, married Sarah Pope, daughter of John Pope of Norton-Small-Reward, in county Somerset. Clement and Sarah had William and Israel.

I think maybe this couple should be disconnected from Sarah. Or the parents need to be more thoroughly researched since they both generate errors with Sarah.
