Biography

Reuben was born on December 26, 1838, near Washington, Vermont. He was only 17 years old when his father died. When his mother married Elnathan Pope, they sold the farm, and Reuben went with them to Randolph, New York. ^[1]

The family later moved to Lind, Wisconsin. He was a surveyor with Waupaca County.^[1] He married Helen Richardson on December 19, 1861, and their daughter Inez Mary Pope was born November 7, 1862.^[1]

Reuben died November 17, 1865 of typhoid, at age 27. He is buried in the Parfreyville Cemetery beside his mother and Elnathan.^[1]
