Capt James Scobey Bailey was reported to have died Feb 24 1904 at age 86 in Isabella Knight's diary and to have been father of Katie Pope. In this case, the Katie might have been the wife of Stephen Pope, Catherine, age 39, listed above.

The censuses do not show any Katie or Catherine in the families of those named James S. Bailey in Marblehead. The relationship noted in the diary is SUSPECT.

The 1870 Census for Hudson shows a Katie Pope, age 18, keeping house for George H. Pope, age 22, a clerk in market. The 1860 Census for Marlborough shows George, age 12, as son of Abel H, age 35, & Sarah Pope, age 33. The 1880 Census for Hudsonshows George H. Pope, age 31, working in provision market, living with his mother Sarah E. Pope, age 52. No mention of Katie.

Note N881Death remembered in IJK's diary of 21 Feb 1905. Calls him 'Folger', probably used to distinguish him from his father who was also Daniel (see 1870 census).
