Biography

Benjamin Pope was born on May 10, 1740, in Fauquier County, Virginia, the child of Worden and Hester Netherland Pope.

He married Beheathland Foote on December 11, 1766, in Fauquier County, Virginia Colony. [1] They had eight children in 39 years.

He died on June 12, 1816, in Kentucky, having lived a long life of 76 years, and was buried in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Burial: Pope's Cemetery [2]

Benjamin Pope served in the Revolution and was an ensign in Captain James Patton's militia in Louisville. In 1780 he removed to and settled next to the Salt River near Shepherdsville, living there the rest of his life.
