Biography
Edith Mary Pope (1863-1895) was the daughter of Rev. Henry Pope & his wife Catherine née Sharland. [1]
Edith Mary Pope was an academically gifted woman, the daughter of a minister & schoolteacher, who obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree by correspondence course at the age of 20.
In 1884, she married Rev. Edwin Dukes, who had returned from missionary work in China. [2]
She died aged 35 in Bridgwater from a disease of the thyroid gland.[3]
