Biography

Sarah Pope was born circa 1656, the daughter of Thomas Pope (who migrated to Plymouth in 1632) and his second wife Sarah Jenney of Plymouth, Massachusetts[1]

On November 13, 1676, she married Samuel Hinckley, the son of Thomas and Mary Hinkley[1] [2], and their children included:

  1. Mary, born 22 July 1678 [2], who married Samuel Bangs[3]
  2. Mehitable, born 28 December 1679 [2]
  3. Thomas, born 19 March 1680/1[2] , who married Mercy Bangs[4]
  4. Seth, born 16 April 1683[2], who died in 1711[5]
  5. Samuel, born 24 Sep 1684, who died March 16, 1697[2]
  6. Elnathan, born 08 Sep 1685[2] who died young
  7. Job, born 16 Feb 1687/8[2], who married Sarah Tufts[6]
  8. Shubael, born 1 May 1690[2], who married Lydia Bangs[7]
  9. Mercy born 16 January 1692/3[2] , who married William Crosby[8]
  10. Josiah, born 24 January 1694/5[2], who married Lydia Paine[9]
  11. Elnathan, born 29 Dec 1698[2]

After Samuel died, she married Thomas Huckins, the son of Samuel and Rose Huckins, on Aug. 17, 1698[10] [11] [12] [13]. Their children included:

  1. Hannah[12], born 22 August 1699[11], who married Joseph Paine, the son of Joseph and Patience (Sparrow) Paine[14]

Thomas Huckins died in 1714, and his estate was distributed on December 11, 1714 [12] [14][15]

The widow Sarah Huckins died at Harwich, between 5 January, 1726/7, the date of her will, and 5 July, 1727, the day it was probated[15] [16]

Pope-1838 and Pope-330 appear to represent the same person because: All the data for both these two people match with the exception of the children, which have different names between the two Sarah's. I see one name in common between the children (Shubael), but with two different ID's. Thank you.

This lists Sarah Pope's middle name as Jenney, like her mother's maiden name.
