Biography
Audrey Hazel Porter was born in Sydney, Australia in 1930. Known as Hazel.
Hazel Porter married Kevin Standen on 26 June 1954 at St Joseph's Church, Enfield in NSW. Together they had 6 sons.
Hazel was an outgoing and vivacious character. She could talk to anyone (and frequently did so) about anything. She spent most of her time in Burwood NSW raising her 6 sons and then later having visiting and live-in grandchildren.
When younger she enjoyed tap dancing. In the 1954 electoral roll she is listed as an usherette living at 26 Eve St Strathfield/Enfield with her mother and her brother Gordon. By 1963 she was living with her husband at 6 Sym Ave Burwood where she would live for the rest of her life. In the 1963 electoral roll her mother and brother Charles (Ted) are listed as also listed at that address and they lived there with her for the rest of their lives.
She suffered from cardiomyopathy and underwent a heart transplant in the 1980's which at the time was a relatively new procedure.
She passed away in 1998.
