Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:
Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.
We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.
And we're always looking for volunteers to assist in different ways.
As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!
Matt~ WikiTree Mentor
Hi Kevin, and welcome to WikiTree! You mentioned your Irish Roots, I wanted to let you know we have a great project that focuses on Irish family here called the Irish Roots Project It would be a great place for you to get involved once you have settled into WikiTree.
You may find some of your ancestors are already on WikiTree and the people in the Irish Roots Project will be happy to help you in any way they can. Thank you so much for joining WikiTree. Volunteers are what make it such an awesome place to share our family ties.
Our vision is to build a collaborative tree with one profile per person. The farther back you go, it's likely you will find existing profiles to link into so it's important to do a thorough search before adding someone!
Do you have Royal Ancestors? If so, they are already here! Please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their already existing profiles.
WikiTree strives to be a fun, collaborative, productive site. It's also different than what many people are used to. Please take advantage of the Help Menu in the upper right hand corner, and of course, our Mentors :)
Hi Kelvin Thank you for volunteering to help grow our World Wide Family Tree.
You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.
Everything on WikiTree is a collaborative work in progress so dont forget to read and sign our Honor Code. This is what keeps WikiTree a friendly and helpful community. We have many friendly members, feel free to ask if you have any questions.
To help you find your way, the help pages and search features can be accessed through the links on the upper right hand corner of almost any page. Feel free to post a question in the G2G Forum or on a relevant profile page.
If you would like to contribute to Wikitree, please click the Volunteer link to receive your Volunteer badge, and post a comment here on your profile to tell us that you are interested in family history and wish to join us.
We will be very glad to welcome you to the WikiTree Community.
