Mary Anne Porter was born on August 23, 1823, in Northumberland, New Brunswick, Canada, her father, William, was 33, and her mother, Christianna, was 27. She married Peter Hovey on August 29, 1844, in her hometown. They had 11 children in 21 years. She died on January 7, 1909, in Northumberland, New Brunswick, Canada, having lived a long life of 85 years, and was buried there.
