Hon.Thomas Porter came to Tinmouth in 1779 from Cornwall, Connecticut. He served in Vermont as a Judge of Rutland County, Speaker of the House/General Assembly (1780-82). Member of the Executive Council (1783-95). Justice of the State Supreme Court ( 1783-86) and Delegate/Signer of Vermont's ratification of the U.S. Constitution (1791) Prior to 1779, he had served in the Connecticut General Assembly (1768-76).
Captain in the 14th Connecticut during the American Revolution.
