Theodorus was born in 1805. He is the son of Stephen Porter and Ruby Kinsman. [1]
Rev. Theodore H. Porter was born in Cornwallis Kings. Co. NS on 5 April 1805, the son of farmer Stephen Porter and Ruby Kinsman. When he was 13 years old, the family moved to Billtown where he was influenced by Elder Edward Manning and became involved with the Baptist Church. He married first, Rebecca White (born 1809)
on the 15 March 1827. Rebecca died shortly after childbirth on 29 December 1827 but
the child, a daughter named Rebecca, survived.
Secondly, on 12 March 1829, he married Lydia Rand ( 1804-1883), daughter of Jonathan Rand. They had 10 children, three of whom followed in their father's footsteps by becoming Baptist ministers. The children were;
1. Rev. Robert Dickey Porter 1830-1917 in Truro NS
2. Clarissa Porter 1832-1838
3. Elizabeth Rand Porter -14 November 1833-1913, who married John Fisher.
4. Pauline Ross Porter-1834-1871, who married David Ferguson.
5. Rev. Theodore Harding Rand Porter Jr. 1836-1881, who married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Eastabrooks.
6. Rev. William Henry Porter 1837-1927, who married first, Eliza Marshall and secondly Elizabeth Cunningham.
7. Adoniram Porter-1839-1840
8. Clara Amelia Porter -1842-1927
9. Emma Porter- 1846-1848
10. Judson Porter ,died age [ 1? 7?] years
