Biography

Lillian Porter is second Great Grand Niece to Jane JANE PORTER was born 9 Sep 1761 in Guilford Co. North Carolina of parents Patrick Porter and Susannah Walker.

She married 1st James, Sr Green in December 1781 / 1782 in Washington Co., Virginia and had child James, Jr Green born 12 February 1783 (after death of father). (James Sr. Green was killed by Indians, along with Robert Kilgore, brother of Charles Kilgore who had settled adjacent to the Porters on Fall Creek.)

Jane married 2nd in 1785 to Rev. Robert Kilgore, son of the Robert Kilgore killed at the same time as James Green. In 1790 Robert and Jane moved across Copper Creek Ridge to settle on the ford of Copper Creek, about two miles west of Nickelsville. There they built what is now known as the Kilgore Fort house, the oldest house in Scott County. The Rev. Kilgore was a well-known Primitive Baptist minister.

Jane Kilfgore died 25 September 1842 in Kilgore Fort, Nickelsville, Scott Co., Virginia.

I agree with Loretta's suggestion to correct the last name at birth to "Porter" rather than "Porter Green" - especially if the merge was set up to merge [Porter-2257 ] into [Porter Green-1]. I feel that it's prudent to correct obvious errors prior to a merge rather than hoping it can easily be corrected after the merge.

Jane Porter was married twice - 1st to James Green abt 1781. James was killed i by Indians in 1782 while on a hunting trip in Wise Co, VA with the father of her 2nd husband (Robert "Robin" Kilgore) who she married abt 1784.
