Mr. James Porter, an aged citizen and for years was an invalid, was found dead in his room on Monday morning at the residence of Mr. Fred Webber where he has been cared for several months.
1819 born[citation needed]
1839 James Porter and Matilda McHatten (sister to Robert McHatten) were married on October 10, 1839 by Minister John Birkmyre A.M. The history of St. Paul’s United Church begins in 1829 when a public meeting was held to discuss the building of a Presbyterian Church in Fredericton. In 1830 the first worship service was held and in 1832, the same year the church was incorporated, a request was made to the Glasgow Colonial Society for a minister. Rev. John Birkmyre arrived in October 1832 to become the first minister at the Old Kirk, as St. Paul’s was known locally. This suggests that both James and Matilda were Presbyterians. https://www.stpaulsunited.ca/history/
