Disputed Info

Please submit sources for the Richard Perrin & Ann Gros Marin marriage. Would it be Ann "Little Flower" who married the Marin? - It has been proven that Richard Perrin was actually the son of this Anne Perrin because she managed his estate upon his death. This would also indicate that he didn't have a wife or children.

In Sept 1732, Thomas Cardwell of Henrico sells to Joseph Mayo of same for 57 $ tract where said Thomas and HIS MOTHER ANN MARRIN, now live.

The will of ANN MARTEN in 1736 names SON THOMAS CARDWELL.

Marin-588 and Porter-2078 appear to represent the same person because: same death info; BOTH bios reference the same will and mention the same children; according to the will and other sourced legal documentation:

1.) Ann's LNAB was Porter - Father was Richard Porter; 2.) Ann married a Thomas Perrin; 3.) Ann and Thomas had 6 known children: Richard, Ann, John, Elizabeth, Jane and Martha; 4.} Ann did NOT remarry after Thomas died, there's no source for a marriage to Richard Perrin, only the source showing that Ann was executrix of her SON's estate in 1704, a son named Richard Perrin;

posted by R Prior
There is no evidence Ann's LNAB was Marin or Gromarin or Gros Marin. She was the daughter of Robert Porter and married a Thomas Perrin. No relationship has yet been found between Thomas and any Richard Perrin, other than Ann and Thomas' son Richard.

The Quarterly of the Virginia Genealogical Society, Vol 20, Number 2 (April-June 1982); p. 68; "Thomas Perrin, born ca 1639-40, died 1689, Henrico Co., married Anne Porter, born before 1651, died 1711 Henrico Co, daughter of Robert Porter . . . " (Kinsey, p. 245) Issue:

1. Ann, married 1695 Thomas East. 2. John, died between 1707 and 1711 3. Elizabeth, married (1) 1694 Thomas Elam, (2) an Alsay and Aldey, or Oldey, and (3) Seth Hatcher. 4. Jane, married (1) by 1711 Thomas Bayley (2) by 1717 William Bassetts 5. The home plantation bequests include "my horse, five sheep, one cow with calf, one hog that is now in the pen, one steer three years old"

The above quote leaves out Anne (Porter) Perrin's other son Richard, as seen by these additional records:

1 Jun 1704, Forrest, James and Alice his wife, Varina Parish, Henrico, love and affection to son John 100A part of plantation “Long Swamp” s/s James bounded by Richard Perrin, late dec’d, the river, and Ann Perrin. <ref>Henrico County Virginia Deeds, 1677-1708, Weisinger, p 132</ref>

June 1st 1704 Administration granted Ann Perrin of her dec'd son Rich. Perrin Estate. Recorded 1 June 1705. <ref>County Court records, deeds, wills, settlements of estates, etc., (Henrico County, Virginia), 1677-1787. [1]</ref>

However, all of the above shows that Ann/Anne's maiden name was Porter, not Marin or Gromarin or anything like that. In fact, there's a lawsuit between Anne (Porter) Perrin and her sister that's mentioned in VGS, Magazine of Virginia Genealogy, Vol. 33, No. 2 (May 1995); p. 140; Henrico County Record Book No. 2, 1678-1693; Com: Hen:ci primo die Febry. Porter-8702 and Porter-3627 appear to represent the same person because: We don't know exactly when Ann (Porter) Perrin was born but we know that she's the daughter of Robert Porter and she married Thomas Perrin, therefore these are the same. Despite the wide range between the DOBs and the lack of sources.

Ann's last name may have been Gromarrin. There was a Gillee Gromarrin in Henrico County. http://vagenweb.org/hening/vol08-31.htm

According to the list on this page: http://www.genealogyresources.org/Index-Hnwd14.pdf There was a Anne, Arabella, Gille, Gillee, Gilly, and a Wilsheir Gromarrin.

posted on Marin-588 (merged) by Wanda Richards
The first link quotes part of Gillee Gromarrin's will in regards to land bequeathed to a son Wiltshire who died without issue, and then passed on to the child of Gillee, Jr. It would be helpful to find the complete will of Gillee, Sr., in order to see if he mentions Anne at all.

Though based on ages/dob, I would suspect this Anne to be his sister, not his daughter.

Nice find, btw. Thanks for sharing.

Marin-588 and Porter-2078 do not represent the same person because: they are not the same person: found something interesting. This source: familytreemaker.com/users/m/e/a/james-kidron-meadows/gene11-0015.html, Gen. 12:p1, posted on Perrin-2063 Richard Jr, takes you to other wikitree sites that also have unsourced profiles. One is Anne Potter-482, aka Porter, who was married to Thomas Perrin-121. this Anne and Thomas have a daughter Elizabeth Perrin-660 Graves (some sources and questions of merge which appears to be completed), and a daughter Elizabeth Perrin-1311 Elam, unsourced.

Interestingly Thomas Perrin-121 is also Betty Kennedy's profile..... no siblings for Thomas.
