EMPLOY Fruit Porter. 22 August 1969. Glasgow
Note: Radnor died as a result of alcoholism: Gastro-intestinal haemorrahage; rupture of oesophageal varices; alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. Radnor registered my birth - and on birth certificate he stated date of marriage was 1966. In actual fact this was the date of his marriage to Jessie Campbell. He did not marry my mother (Christina MacTear Rae) until August 1969 - just two weeks after her father died. (Not sure if he lied or was confused. Haven't found out whether he was still married to Jessie when Yvonne Porter was born). I should say Radnor had many affairs and many children. One of which was even named Yvonne (two Yvonnes??? how weird). I know there was a Tracey Smith (who I met - she as about three years younger than me) She is married with children now. All I can remember was that she and her mother were from Edinburgh somewhere. She was desperate for him to be 'her father'. It was through her that I met him ...(but that's another story). Of course there was Nicola when he was married to Frances. I met her too. She had very long blonde hair - very skinny .... and I remember she showed me a huge tattoo she got on her backside ... I think Nicola and Radnor were extremely close ...so it must have been hard when she died!. I believe there was also a son ... older than me ... I asked him about that (not sure where I had heard it) and he confirmed it but got very angry and told me never to mention him again (his name might have been Brian or Robert - but I can't remember why I think this??). I also know Radnor was in and out of prison all the time. He told me he had been inside from quite young - and it becomes difficult to adjust to life outside as you become institutionalised. I know he could be violent (from the limited info my mother gave me) but I have no idea what his crimes were. When I met him - I could see there was another side to him - but one memory I have that will stay with me is when we were driving back from his sister's house in Kirkintilloch he commented on how beautiful the sunset was. For some reason I liked that he noticed things like that - in spite of the life he had had!. 2 2
