Bertha H. Porter was born Friday, January 21, 1898, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the next to youngest of seven children, the oldest and youngest siblings were brothers, the others were all sisters. Her parents were Henry Robert Porter (1858 - 1905) and Mary "Mamie" Shepard Porter (Thursday, May 24, 1860 - Tuesday, December 28, 1926). Bertha's parents were married in 1885. Her father was a teamster.
Bertha completed seventh grade. She and Davis Elmer Linhart were married on Thursday, April 20, 1916 in Pittsburgh, PA. They raised four children: Vilma A., 1917; James D., 1918; Jean E., 1922; William D., 1928; and Robert Melvin, 1931.
She passed away on Sunday, July 18, 1976, at Salem Medical Center, Salem, Columbiana County, Ohio.

NEW SPRINGFIELD - Bertha H. Linhart, 78, of Garfield Rd., died of a heart ailment Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at Salem Community Hospital East. She had been ill for five years and had been admitted to the hospital Sunday afternoon. Born January 21, 1898, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Robert and Mamie Porter. She had lived in Erie, Pa., before moving here 31 years ago. She was an active member of the New Springfield Church of God.
