Francis Marion POSEY was born in 1814 in Jasper County, Georgia, as the fourth child of Squire Posey and Sara Pate. Frances Marion first marred Sarah Waldrop (1822-c.1874). He was 28 when he married Sarah Ann Wilmet WALDROP on 15 Jan 1842 in Coosa County, Alabama.

Francis also married Eliza (Lovett) Cates (1832-1893) by 1874. They were parents of George Washington and Rozilee.
Francis Marion lived his last years with relatives in the Posey Mill
area and Eliza was living in nearby Walker County, Alabama.
HE died in 1885 in Franklin County, Alabama, age 71.
