Sources. A good starting point for research on Benjamin Posey can be found at Early Colonial Settlers of Southern Maryland and Virginia's Northern Neck Countieshttps://www.colonial-settlers-md-va.us/getperson.php?personID=I2953&tree=Tree1. It lists all sources used in its conclusions. These sources, especially the primary sources, still need to be looked up and verified.
Year of birth. Currently (26 February 2020) the above website states that Benjamin Posey was born between 1695 and 1699. [1] There is a discussion in the profile of his father that shows that Benjamin (and his brothers John and Belaine) could not have been born before late 1694, and were likely born between 1695 and 1699. [2] The date of 1697 used in this WikiTree profile is arbitrary.
Place of death. This WikiTree profile originally stated that Benjamin's death occurred about 1750 in Halifax County, Virginia. Other sources state that he died in Charles County, Maryland.
In the first place, Halifax was not established until 1752, so he did not die in that county (though he may have died in Lunenburg, the parent county). The above "Early Colonial Settlers" website states that he died in Charles, Maryland. In the sources, it implies that he died testate, but cites primarily an inventory of May 26, 1750, rather than a will. The will needs to be located. Inventories were often filed in the county where the deceased owned property, regardless of his county of residence. (Charles County is certainly more likely).

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Benjamin by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Benjamin:
Posey-714 and Posey-797 appear to represent the same person because: They have the same parents (though the father for Posey-714 was recently removed), and the same siblings. Posey-797 has birth and death dates, etc. These are two of three Benjamin Posey profiles that are likely duplicates, the other being Posey-714.
