Rebecca Potter was the daughter of Thomas Potter, mayor of Coventry County, Warwick, England.[1][2] She may have been the Rebecca, daughter of Thomas, who was baptized 6 April 1610 at Holy Trinity in Coventry, Warwickshire.[3][4]
She married William Bacon in 1639/40.[5] Either the couple married in England (or Ireland?) before emigrating, or they married soon after arriving in Massachusetts.
After her brother Humphrey's death, she undertook the voyage back to Ireland to claim her niece, Anne, whose mother may also have died at this point. The two sailed on Ye London Merchant, and Anne lived with her aunt in Salem.[2][citation needed] (this needs verification)
Rebecca may have been a Quaker in her adulthood.[citation needed]
William Bacon died in Salem, Massachusetts in 1653.[1]
Rebecca died testate in 1655 in Salem, Massachusetts. Her will was dated 23 March 1655 and was proved 29 November 1655 and named one of the wives of John Horne "sister hornis".[6] The inventory for her estate was taken by Thomas Gardner, Sr.[7]
