Elizabeth Potter was born about 1776.
Her first husband John Allingham died in 1823 in Hadlow, and she then married William Crayford, in Hadlow on 7th November 1825, Elizabeth being shown as a widow in the register [1]
The 1841 census shows William and Elizabeth living at Moyce, Hadlow, Kent. William is age 40, an ag lab . Elizabeth is age 60 and with them is her 9 year old grandson John Allingham. Interestingly, Elizabeth clearly shows that she was not born in the County of Kent [2]
By 1851, they had moved within Hadlow village to Golden Green. William was shown as an ag lab, born in Tudley, Kent, Elizabeth, now age 74, shows her birth place as Ticehurst, Sussex and her grandson John Allingham, now an 18 year old ag lab, born in Hadlow. [3]
Elizabeth died on 28 October 1860, in the Hadlow workhouse, Hadlow, Kent, and was buried in Hadlow on 2nd November 1860, age 84 years, her current residence being shown as Tonbridge [4]
