Samuel Potter, the son of Samuel Potter and Elizabeth Dunlap, was born September 22, 1786 in Litchfield, Maine. He married Fannie Dunlap on August 1, 1805. He later married Eliza Dunlap. He lived for a while near his brother David, but sold to Samuel Hyde and then moved to Wales. Samuel died December 17, 1868. He and Fannie had 10 children: Elijah, Eleanor, Esther, George, Emeline, Margaret B., Charles Hyde, William Henry, Samuel B., and Dennis.[1]
Samuel Potter moved to Wales in 1818. In 1822 he purchased a farm from Philip Cannon. Samuel died in Farmingdale, Maine. He was a blacksmith.[2]
