Summary: Captain Joseph Potter Junior was at the 1758 Battle of Ticonderoga, and moved to Nova Scotia in 1770. He married twice and had 14 children. He died by drowning in the Atlantic Ocean.
Joseph was born 23 Aug 1741 in Marlboro, Mass. He married (1st) in 1761 in Mass., Zebudah HAYDEN born 26 Jun 1734 the daughter of Ebenezer and Thankful (PARMENTER) HAYDEN. They lived for a few years in Sudbury where his first three children were born; she died 24 Jan. 1767;
Joseph enlisted in a regiment of troops raised by Gov. William SHIRLEY and commanded by Col. Jonathan BAILEY during the Seven Year's War between England and France from 1755 to 1763. Joseph was at the Battle of Fort Ticonderoga, Lake Champlain on 8 Jul 1758 when General Lord HOWE was killed. He also was in the Battle of Fort Edward in the same year. [1]

Joseph m. (2) Mary Farnsworth, and moved April, 1770, to Clements, Annapolis county, Nova Scotia. After the Revolutionary War was over he went to New York to get help to build iron works at Moose river in Clements, and on a trip from Nova Scotia to Boston was lost at sea about the year 1800. His wife Mary d. 30 June, 1790. [3]
