Biography

Joseph Potter was born in 1701. He was the son of Ephraim Potter and Sarah (Brown) Potter. He passed away in 1774.

Will Abstract of: 1773, July 14. Potter, Joseph, of Borough of Elizabeth, Essex Co. New Jersey: Sons, John and Matthias, plantation where I live; also my land at Green River. Son, Mathias, my part of the old Bound Creek lot, and the - 1/2 of the three corner lot; also a meadow by the Little Creek. Son, John, the rest of my meadow. Sons, John and Matthias, rest of my lands in East and West Jersey. Daughter, Hannah Wade, £21. Daughter, Elizabeth Woodruff, £30. Granddaughter, Mary Hallack, £15. To Eli Wade, £5. Executors—sons, John and Matthias. Witnesses—Aaron Wade, Jotham Wade, John Ogden. Proved June 10, 1774. 1774, June 14. Inventory, made by John Lum and James Carpenter. Lib. L, p. 195. [1]

Note: the daughter Hannah seems to be same as Sarah Wade, wife of John Wade as also named in North American Family Histories - the Wade Family. John Wade and Sarah had five children: Eli Wade 1754 -1802, Rachel Wade, Jane Wade, Lois Wade who m. a Mr Bockhorn, Lois d 1836 in Springfield and Mathias Wade.

Potter-12488 and Potter-4718 appear to represent the same person because: I made the second profile before I realized that the original one existed. Now, I would like to fix my mistake.
