Robert Crockett Potts is my 2nd great-grandfather. He was born in 20 August 1814 or 1815 at Six-Mile Run, Union, NC and died 20 March 1872 in Lancaster, SC. This is probably the same spot right on the state line. The Potts farm is on the SC side on the NC border. The farm was on Six-Mile Run. When it passed out of the family, the farm was on Potts Lane adjacent to Black Horse Run. The border has been in flux for years. Originally it was Mecklenburg County which included Mecklenburg and Union counties in NC and York and Lancaster counties, SC. At one time it was called the New Acquisition, not being in any of the original Districts. It is the back-side of Fort Mill, SC in Pleasant Valley, Indian Land near Possum Hollar and was near Barberville. Fairly close to the Waxhaws. There was a one story plantation house with a wrap around porch. Robert was a cotton farmer and from 3 January 1951, the postmaster of Pleasant Valley. His father was William Potts 1788-January 22, 1856. His mother was Levica Jane 'Levicy' Crockett 1786-1827. Robert married Louisa Alletha (Eloia) Wrenn (1828-1899) on April. One of his sons was Dr. Robert Marcellus Potts, my great-grandfather. 29, 1846 in Union County, NC.
