William was born about 1853. He was the son of William Potts and Louisa Reid.
He lived at Coreen Castle, County Roscommon, Ireland. His father died in 1881.
FASHIONABLE NEWS
A marriage is arranged between Willie Trumperant Potts, Esq, Coreen Castle. Ballinasloe, and Helen, daughter of Faulkiner J Minchin, Esq. J.P, Annagh, Borrisokane. [1]
On Wednesday, the 6th June, that part of North Tipperary known as Coolbawn was en fete in consequence of the marriage of Miss Minchin, daughter of Falkiner J. Minchin, Esq. J.P, of Annagh, with William Trumperant Potts, Esq. of Correen Castle, Balllinasloe. The day was all that could be desired for such an interesting event, and a large and fashionable assemblage filled the quaint old Church of Kilbarron, which was tastefully decorated by the Misses Bruce, of Liserragh, assisted by the gentlemen visitors. The bride wore a white satin dress, trimmed with lace, the gift of Mrs Anthony Reilly; tulle veil and wreath of orange blossoms and carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attended by five bridesmaids - Misses Minnie and George Minchin (sisters), Miss Bruce, Miss Lily Bruce, and Miss Litton - who wore pretty dresses of light pink and bonnets to match. Each wore handsome gold bracelets with horseshoe fastenings, and with the names of bride and bridegroom and date of wedding engraved, the gift of the bridegroom, who was attended by Dr Guy P. L. Nugent as best man, Mr W. Johnson, Mr Robert Levinge, and Mr Frank Bruce. The ceremony was performed by the Very Rev the Dean of Killlaloe, assisted by the Rev F. Samuels, rector of the parish. After the ceremony the wedding march was played by Mr F. Starkie, and outside the church were assembled the tenants of Mr Minchin's estate, with whom the bride was a general favourite. On reaching the carriage they drove to Annagh, where a large party were entertained to breakfast by Mr and Mrs Minchin, after which the happy couple left, amidst a shower of slippers, for Cloughjordan en route for the Continent, where they will spend the honeymoon.[3]
They had at least one son together.
He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).
