John, born in 1752, married, his wife's given name being Susan.

Note N1900108. John POTTS died on Oct 20 1820 in Columbiana Co., Ohio. He was born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania. TMP page 315 He served as a member of the Ninth Virginia Blues, in the Revolutionary War. The Virginia records show that John Potts was a Corporal in Captain Charles Porterfield's Company, as it stood November 30, 1778. He married Susan _____. (NOTE: The maiden name of Susan has not been learned. Different corrspondents have given it as Higgens, Hibben, Hibet, Wiggens and Grigg.) John Potts removed from Loudoun County, Virginia, to Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he lived for several years. About the year 1800, he removed to Jefferson County, Ohio, and subsequently to Corroll County, wher he died about 1825. Susan his wife, died in 1853, aged 93 years.

Susannah Hibbens or Hibbons 14 Mar 1782 in Berkely Co., Virigina soldier had lived there at enlistment, sold's wife was b. 16 Mar 1763 or 1764, sol d. 20 Oct 1820 in Columbiana Co., Ohio, widow appl. 26 Feb 1839 Carroll Co., Ohio where she was living with a son Thomas Potts & in 1843 she was living there with a son (not named), wid was still living in 1851, the oldest child was Jonathan b. in the fall of 1785 & their youngest children: Thomas & David were b 10 Mar 1807, in 1839 a Nathan & James Potts were living & in 1848 a Silas Potts was a JP for Carroll Co., Ohio, but the relationship of these three men to sol'd family was not given, a grandson B. F. Potts of Helena, Montana Terr made inquiry 19 Mar 1879 & stated sol's wid Susannah had d in 1854.
