Mary was born in March 1852 in Macoupin County, Illinois. She is the daughter of William Beatty Potts and Rhoda Ann Richards. She passed away in 1914 in Woburn, Bond County, Illinois and is buried in Allen Cemetery, Zanesville, Montgomery County, Illinois.[1]

Mary married Gilbert L Allen on 12 September 1870 in Montgomery County, Illinois.[3]
