Biography

Sherman Powell, son of Wansley and Elizabeth (Isaacs) Powell of Jackson County, Kentucky, was born in Kerby Knob in 1894. His father was a farmer in Jackson County. Sherman was the brother of John, Aaron, Earlie, George, Nellie, Rosa, Nora, Eliza, Hobert, Charlie, and Ginnie. Sherman married Sinda Baker about 1919. Their children were Glendon Powell, Eldon Powell, Geneva (Powell) Botkin. In 1920, Sherman and Sinda were living in Blue Lick in Madison County, and Sherman was doing farm labor. In 1940, they were living in Berea, and Sherman worked as janitor at the Public School.
