Capt Sanford Daniel Powell, Sr was a well respected Merchant and Pioneer of Brookhaven, MS.
He was married to a beloved and devoted wife Susan Virginia (Johnson) Powell until she passed on 30 Jan 1880.
Together they brought eleven children into the world:
- Alice D. (Powell) Clapp-Barrington,
- Edward J. Powell,
- Thomas E. Powell,
- Ada L. Powell,
- Miss Susan "Susie" V. Powell,
- Georgia Powell,
- Robert Lee Powell,
- Hugh Louis Powell, Sr.,
- Willie Powell,
- Sanford "Sancho" Daniel Powell, Jr.,and
- "Captain" Albert L. Powell.
Sandford then married his 2nd wife Mary Virginia (Brown)Powell on 3 Apr 1881 in Panola County, MS. Together they brought (12) Mamie (Powell) McAlpine and (13) Benjamin Powell into the world.
