Eliza Jane Power was born on 12 July 1853 in Hartley, New South Wales, Australia [1] and was christened on 7 April 1854 in St Bernards Roman Catholic Church, Hartley, New South Wales, Australia [2].

Eliza married John Simpson on 27 January 1875 at Hartley, New South Wales, Australia [3] and they are thought to have had 13 children.

Eliza Jane Simpson died on 4 April 1941 at Auburn, New South Wales, Australia [4] and she was buried on 5 April 1941 in the Catholic Cemeteries and Crematoria, Rookwood, Cumberland Council, New South Wales, Australia [5].

Her Obituary is as follows: [6] Death In Auburn: The death of Mrs. Eliza Jane Simpson (87), which occurred at her daughter's residence at Auburn on April 4, marks the passing of another pioneer of the Rydal district. Born at Antoni's Creek, Rydal, in 1854, Mrs. Simpson was married at Hartley and reared a family of 13 children at Lowther, where she lived for a number of years. Eight members of the family are still living. Mrs. Simpson, whose parents were members of an old Parramatta family, the Powers, had varied experiences. with bushrangers in the Rydal district. In her early years she was a good horsewoman. Mrs. Simpson led a quiet life and had enjoyed good health until eight months ago. She had lived at Hartley, Mt. Victoria, Blackheath and for 20 years at Auburn. She is survived by her husband, five daughters. — Misses Pearl and Adeline, of Auburn, Mesdames S. Zobel, of Bankstown, E. Larkin, of Newnes Junction, V. Delaney, of Pendle Hills — and three sons — Messrs. John Simpson, of Tasmania, Morgan Simpson, of Auburn and Alfred Simpson, of Sydney. There are also 19 grandchildren of {&} 16 great grandchildren.
