Obituary

Knox, Mary Gertrude Agnes, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2016[1]:

Mary was born May 3, 1920 in Herring Cove. She was the daughter of the late Maurice Power and Elizabeth (Brown) Power.
She attended the College Street School, Saint Thomas Aquinas School and Saint Patrick's High School. She served in several parishes of the Roman Catholic Church and was a member of Saint John the Baptist Church Choir for 25 years.
She served as a Credit Investigator with the Halifax/Dartmouth Credit Exchange, was a Manager of Sears Credit Office in Kentville, and was employed at Dalhousie University for 29 years. Over many years, Mary was active in music having sung solos at weddings and funeral services, as a member of the Dalhousie Choral, The Halifax Choral Society, The Bluenose Belles Chapter of the Sweet Adeline's Inc., and several church choirs.
She volunteered with the Metro Food Bank Society, Melville Lodge Nursing Home, and the Paraplegic Society. Mary was a very generous and compassionate lady who will be greatly missed.
Mary is survived by one sister, Kathleen Stanhope; two sons, Karl J. (Jeanette), Terry D. (Mary); sister-in-law, Genevieve Power; daughters in law, Judy Knox and Beverly Young.
She was preceded by her ex-husband, Karl R. Knox; her only daughter, Pauline Ruby Mountain (Wayne); sons, David Wayne, Anthony Rosaire; sisters, Grace (Russell), Ella (Archibald), Laura (Peter), Madelyn (Gordon); twin, Evelyn (Gerald); brothers, Vincent (Anna), Howard (Margaret), Maurice (Dolly), Henry; two infant brothers, Frederick and Sylvester, and longtime companion, Bayne Shaw.
Mary will be missed by her eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
