Biography

Douglas was born in 1856. He was the son of John Power

In 1881, he was living with his grandmother Mary, age 100, and sister Martha.

He married, 25 Nov 1885, Eunice E. North, d/o William A and Nancy North. She was born 10 Mar 1867.

In 1891, he was living with his family in Centreville, Kings Co., Nova Scotia.

In 1901, he was living with his wife, 3 children and mother-in-law, Nancy North, in Centreville.

He died 1904 and is buried in the First Cornwallis Baptist Church Cemetery.

Eunice married (2) 15 Mar 1911 in Sheffield Mills, Zacharias West of Hall’s Harbour. She died after 1930 when her second husband died. She later moved to Joliette, Quebec.

  1. Carrie Etta, b. 5 Jun 1887, mar. 4 Jul 1907, Arthur Leroy Nichols, s/o Mansfield and Jane Nichols, d. 19 May 1926 in Brighton, Washington Co., Iowa.
  2. Roy W. (John on 1891 census) , b. 1890, d. May 1897, bur. with his parents.
  3. Lalia Irene, b. 10 Jun 1892, to USA in 1916 to visit sister Mrs. Arthur Nichols in Dayton, Ohio, res. with her grandparents Judson Eaton, 78 and Nancy, 78 in Sheffield Mills, 1911, res. with Charles Wood family, Main St., Kentville, servant, 28 in 1921, poss d. 11 Mar 1944, Lucas, Ohio .
  4. Sydney, b. 15 Jun 1895, in 1911 living with his mother and step-father, Zecharuis West in Halls Harbour.
  5. Ralph W., b. Feb 1903, in 1911 living with his mother and step-father, Zecharuis West in Halls Harbour, d. 27 Feb 1919.
