Likely the daughter of John Power (bc 1800 in Shanagolden, County Limerick, Ireland) and Bridge Nolan (1809-1864), Mary Ann was born in Ireland and immigrated to the United States. She married Francis Patrick Duffy and their raised their family in Charleston, South Carolina.[1][2][3] Mary Ann and Frank had at least four children:

Francis Patrick Duffy, Jr. (Feb 1875-5 Feb 1944)
Eugene J. Duffy (18 Nov 1876-27 Feb 1930)
Ignatious A. Duffy (Jan 1879-23 Feb 1960)
Eva Mary Duffy (29 Sep 1883-19 Jul 1941)
Mary Ann passed away in 1883 and is buried at Saint Lawrence Cemetery in Charleston, South Carolina.
