MRS M'CORMICK BURIAL TUESDAY
FORMER FLANDREAU RESIDENT DIES AT IOWA HOME - BODY BROUGHT HERE FOR BURIAL
The community was shocked when word reached here of the death of Mrs. Thomas H. McCormick, who for 24 years was a beloved and well known resident of this county. Death occurred at the family home at Bouton, Iowa on January 17, 1919.
Mrs. McCormick was born in Dodge county, Wis., on July 22, 1862, where her girlhood years were spent. In 1885 she came to South Dakota and in 1887, on January 12, she was united in marriage with Thomas H. McCormick at Flandreau, South Dakota. Eleven children were born to bless this union, as follows: Margaret M., Robert M., Lawrence W., Louise A., Agnes, Thomas W., Edward J., Francis C., Cecelia V., Michael V., and Loraine.
Besides the children, the husband and a brother, M.E. Cogley, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Conway, are left to mourn her departure.
In 1911 the McCormick family moved to Tracy, Minn., and in 1918 they moved to the present home in Iowa. Two sons, Thomas and Lawrence, are still in France where they went in response to the call of their country.
The remains were brought to Flandreau for interment. The funeral was held from Sts. Simon and Jude church Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock. A large concourse of friends and neighbors were present to pay their last tribute of respect and devotion to one whose friendship they had to cherish.
Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Cogley, Mr. and Mrs. Al. Seaman, May McCormick, Jas. McCormick, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Arend, Miss Beck and Miss Sprague were Sioux Falls people who attended the funeral. -- Moody County Enterprise, Flandreau, South Dakota - January 22, 1919
